Possessive endings allow you to speak efficiently about people and the things connected to them. They are essential for personal information, family, home, school, travel and everyday descriptions.

Four Rules for Building Possessive Nouns
Attach the ending directly
The suffix becomes part of the written word.
Do not add الـ
The possessive ending already makes the noun definite: a specific book belonging to someone.
Remove tanwīn
Tanwīn and a possessive suffix do not remain together.
ة becomes ت
The hidden ت appears when another ending is attached.

Arabic normally attaches the possessive ending to the noun.
ـِي means “my”.
The suffix already makes the noun definite.
No definite article is needed.
ة changes before an attached ending.
The hidden ت appears.
ـهُ means “his”.
ـهَا means “her”.
The adjective must describe the feminine noun سَيَّارَة.
The adjective agrees with the possessed object.
