Why object pronouns matter
Object pronouns make Arabic concise and natural. Instead of repeating a person’s name, Arabic attaches a short ending to the verb.

هِيَ and the feminine ـتْ identify the subject.
The object receives the action

ـنِي identifies the object: me.
Powerful Arabic pattern: A single verb may tell you both who performed the action and who received it. In سَاعَدَتْنِي, ـتْ signals “she”, while ـنِي means “me”.

Important contrast: possessive “my” is normally ـِي as in كِتَابِي, but verbal “me” is commonly ـنِي as in سَاعَدَنِي.

Three patterns students must see
1. Verb + object
رَأَيْتُهُ.
I saw him.
The verb ending ـتُ shows “I”; ـهُ shows “him”.
2. Dual and plural objects
قَابَلْتُهُمَا.
I met them two.
قَابَلْتُهُنَّ.
I met them — females.
3. Objects can be things
قَرَأْتُهُ.
I read it — masculine noun.
قَرَأْتُهَا.
I read it — feminine noun.
Non-human reference: use ـهُ or ـهَا according to the grammatical gender of the noun being replaced, not according to biological gender.
Yesterday, my teacher helped me with the project. After that, I met two friends and asked them about the work. I saw female students in the library and invited them to our team. At the end, we thanked them all.
Reading check
1. Who did the teacher help?
سَاعَدَتْنِي contains ـنِي = me.
2. How many friends were asked?
سَأَلْتُهُمَا contains the dual ending.
3. Who was invited?
دَعَوْتُهُنَّ uses feminine plural ـهُنَّ.
