Asking where and locating places precisely
السُّؤَالُ بِـ أَيْنَ وَحُرُوفُ المَكَانِ
Use أَيْنَ with a definite place, then answer with a complete location phrase. Prepositions such as بِجَانِبِ and أَمَامَ are followed by a definite noun and make the description precise.

The bank is between the market and café.بَيْنَ requires two points.

Ask where a definite place is
أَيْنَ + المَكَانُ؟
The place normally includes الـ because both speakers know which place is being discussed.
أَيْنَ المَحَطَّةُ؟أَيْنَ أَقْرَبُ صَيْدَلِيَّةٍ؟أَيْنَ مَرْكَزُ المَدِينَةِ؟
Answer with a place preposition
المَكَانُ + بِجَانِبِ / أَمَامَ / خَلْفَ + الاِسْمِ
The noun after the preposition is pronounced with a kasrah when fully vowelled.
المَكْتَبَةُ بِجَانِبِ المَدْرَسَةِ.المَطْعَمُ مُقَابِلَ المَتْحَفِ.الحَدِيقَةُ خَلْفَ المَسْجِدِ.
Use بَيْنَ with two reference points
بَيْنَ + الاِسْمِ + وَ + الاِسْمِ
A place between two landmarks needs both reference points.
البَنْكُ بَيْنَ السُّوقِ وَالمَقْهَى.المَدْرَسَةُ بَيْنَ الحَدِيقَةِ وَالمَكْتَبَةِ.
Make near and far agree
قَرِيبٌ / قَرِيبَةٌ · بَعِيدٌ / بَعِيدَةٌ
The adjective agrees with the place being described, not the reference place.
المَطَارُ بَعِيدٌ عَنِ المَرْكَزِ.المَحَطَّةُ قَرِيبَةٌ مِنَ الفُنْدُقِ.

A map answer should name the place and provide a reference point; isolated words do not show full control.
After a place preposition, listen for and write the kasrah on the reference noun when the text is fully vowelled.
