عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي... and simple illness sentences

عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي... وَجُمَلُ المَرَضِ البَسِيطَةُ

The lesson-plan grammar focus is the fixed health frame عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي plus a body part, followed by simple sentences that name an illness and agree with the speaker.

1Meaning

What does the structure communicate?

2Form

Which word or ending changes?

3Agreement

What must match the noun or person?

4Transfer

Can you use it with new vocabulary?

عِنْدِي صُدَاعٌ وَحُمَّى.
I have a headache and a fever.

Use عِنْدِي + symptom.

أَشْعُرُ بِأَلَمٍ فِي المَعِدَةِ.
I feel pain in my stomach.

أَشْعُرُ بِـ introduces a feeling or pain.

تُؤْلِمُنِي أَسْنَانِي مُنْذُ يَوْمَيْنِ.
My teeth have hurt for two days.

The body part can be the subject of the pain expression.

أَنَا مُصَابٌ بِالزُّكَامِ. / أَنَا مُصَابَةٌ بِالزُّكَامِ.
I have a cold. (m/f)

Make مُصَابٌ / مُصَابَةٌ agree with the speaker.

1

Locate pain

عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي + جُزْءِ الجِسْمِ

Use the complete chunk عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي and then name the affected body part, often with a possessive ending.

عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي رَأْسِي.عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي بَطْنِي.عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي ظَهْرِي.
2

Name an illness directly

عِنْدِي + مَرَضٌ / عَرَضٌ

Common illnesses and symptoms can follow عِنْدِي directly.

عِنْدِي صُدَاعٌ.عِنْدِي حُمَّى.عِنْدِي زُكَامٌ.
3

Agree with the speaker

أَنَا مَرِيضٌ / أَنَا مَرِيضَةٌ

The adjective changes according to whether the speaker is male or female.

أَنَا مَرِيضٌ اليَوْمَ.أَنَا مَرِيضَةٌ اليَوْمَ.
4

Add duration

مُنْذُ + مُدَّةٍ

Use مُنْذُ to say how long the problem has continued.

مُنْذُ أَمْسِ.مُنْذُ يَوْمَيْنِ.مُنْذُ أُسْبُوعٍ.
What you meanCore structureExample
pain locationعِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي...عِنْدِي أَلَمٌ فِي بَطْنِي.
named illnessعِنْدِي...عِنْدِي زُكَامٌ.
male speakerأَنَا مَرِيضٌأَنَا مَرِيضٌ اليَوْمَ.
female speakerأَنَا مَرِيضَةٌأَنَا مَرِيضَةٌ اليَوْمَ.
1

Choose one clear structure and complete it accurately. عِنْدِي صُدَاعٌ is a simple possession pattern; أَشْعُرُ بِصُدَاعٍ uses a preposition; يُؤْلِمُنِي رَأْسِي makes the body part the thing that hurts.

2

Health descriptions should remain factual and age-appropriate. The lesson teaches language, not diagnosis. Serious or persistent symptoms require an appropriate adult or healthcare professional.
