Build the he/she profile patternنَمَطُ هُوَ وَهِيَ فِي البِطَاقَةِ

The subject, possessive ending and verb prefix work together. Read the full pattern rather than memorising isolated endings.

Masculine profile

هُHis details often end in ـهُ.

اِسْمُهُ أَحْمَدُ.
عُمْرُهُ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً.
هِوَايَتُهُ المُفَضَّلَةُ القِرَاءَةُ.

Many third-person masculine present verbs begin with يـ: يَعِيشُ، يَدْرُسُ، يُحِبُّ.

Feminine profile

هَاHer details often end in ـهَا.

اِسْمُهَا سَارَةُ.
عُمْرُهَا اِثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً.
هِوَايَتُهَا المُفَضَّلَةُ السِّبَاحَةُ.

Many third-person feminine present verbs begin with تـ: تَعِيشُ، تَدْرُسُ، تُحِبُّ.

Important: تـ can also appear in “you” forms. In this lesson, the named female subject or هِيَ tells you that the verb means she.

Unvowelled-text strategy

When vowel marks disappear, rely on familiar word shapes, repeated structures and information order. The letters in يعيش، يدرس، يحب، يقرأ، يكتب remain visible even without short vowels.
