Explain · notice · apply

Reading for attitude and implication

القِرَاءَةُ لِاسْتِخْرَاجِ المَوْقِفِ

Three sources of evidence: the words the writer chose, the tone across the whole text, and what the tense signals about time and completion.

1Meaning

What does the structure communicate?

2Form

Which word or ending changes?

3Agreement

What must match the noun or person?

4Transfer

Can you use it with new vocabulary?

سُوقٌ نَابِضٌ بِالحَيَاةِ
What to notice

Admiring word choice signals the attitude.

ازْدَهَرَتِ المَدِينَةُ قَدِيمًا
What to notice

The past presents it as completed history.

يُشِيرُ الكَاتِبُ إِلَى
What to notice

يُشِيرُ is fixed with إِلَى.

1

Word choice signals attitude

same fact + different adjective = different attitude

Positive and negative colouring is carried by adjectives and by the nouns a writer selects.

سُوقٌ نَابِضٌ بِالحَيَاةِ — admiringسُوقٌ مُزْدَحِمٌ وَصَاخِبٌ — reserved
2

Tense signals time and completion

past = completed · present = ongoing

A cultural text that uses the past presents something as history; the present presents it as a current reality.

ازْدَهَرَتِ المَدِينَةُ قَدِيمًا — historicalتَزْدَهِرُ المَدِينَةُ اليَوْمَ — current
3

Naming the tone

نَبْرَةٌ احْتِفَالِيَّةٌ / نَقْدِيَّةٌ / مُحَايِدَةٌ

Judge the tone from the accumulation of choices across the text, not from one word alone.

نَبْرَةُ الكَاتِبِ احْتِفَالِيَّةٌنَبْرَةُ الكَاتِبِ مُحَايِدَةٌ وَمَوْضُوعِيَّةٌ
4

Comparing two texts

Text A / Text B / both

In a cross-text task, check each statement against each text separately before deciding.

يَتَّفِقُ النَّصَّانِ عَلَى أَهَمِّيَّةِ التُّرَاثِيَنْفَرِدُ النَّصُّ الأَوَّلُ بِذِكْرِ المَطَاعِمِ

Tensecompleted or ongoingازْدَهَرَتْ vs تَزْدَهِرُ

Tonethe accumulation of choicesنَبْرَةٌ احْتِفَالِيَّةٌ
1
Attitude hides in word choice

Two writers can report the same festival. One writes مُزْدَحِمٌ (crowded), another writes نَابِضٌ بِالحَيَاةِ (full of life). The fact is the same; the attitude is not. Quote the adjective, and you have your evidence.

2
What is left out is evidence too

A travel article that describes only the old city and never the modern one has made a choice. Noticing an omission is a high-level reading skill, and it is exactly what an R3 question rewards.

Choose the form for a reason

Every answer checks a stated rule, change or agreement decision.

2A writer calls the same market مُزْدَحِمٌ وَصَاخِبٌ. What does this signal?

4What does تَزْدَهِرُ المَدِينَةُ اليَوْمَ present?

Build a complete analysis from a tone judgement, quoted evidence and an observation.

This guided builder accepts 27 accurate combinations. Build 3 different sentences, changing one meaningful chunk each time. Compare the grammar and meaning before moving to the independent tasks.

Strong learners do not only recognise an error: they identify the system and repair it.

يُشِيرُ الكَاتِبُ عَنْ أَهَمِّيَّةِ التُّرَاثِ.

يُشِيرُ الكَاتِبُ إِلَى أَهَمِّيَّةِ التُّرَاثِ.

يُشِيرُ requires إِلَى.

Answering “the city is beautiful” to a question about the writer's attitude.

Quoting نَابِضٌ بِالحَيَاةِ as the writer's own wording.

The evidence must come from the text, not from the reader.

Treating تَزْدَهِرُ as a description of the past.

Reading تَزْدَهِرُ as a current, ongoing reality.

The present tense signals what is true now.
