Today you will
- Predict the information type before listening.
- Track people, times, negation and contrast.
- Recognise synonyms and paraphrase.
- Evaluate listening performance and set a precise target.
Development D1 · Daily Routine and Time
Use prediction, time anchors, speaker tracking, distractor control and second-listen verification in longer routine and schedule texts.
Retrieve · orient · prepare
Tick achievements as you secure them.
Retrieval bridge
Answer four questions before opening the new language.
Recognise · organise · retrieve
The complete lesson-relevant language bank is organised by meaning and recycled in the activities below.
Vocabulary mission
Move between Arabic and meaning without relying on the order of the cards.
Explain · notice · apply
القَوَاعِدُ فِي الاِسْتِمَاعِ نِظَامٌ لِلْأَدِلَّةِ
Listening accuracy improves when you recognise person prefixes, time frames, frequency phrases and contrast markers. These grammatical signals help you reject distractors.
What does the structure communicate?
Which word or ending changes?
What must match the noun or person?
Can you use it with new vocabulary?
A deliberate listening target.
Person tracking.
Contrast control.
Verification habit.
أَـ = I · تَـ = you/she · يَـ = he · نَـ = we
When two people are compared, the prefix tells you who performs the action.
فِي السَّاعَةِ · قَبْلَ · بَعْدَ · مُدَّةَ
Write the number or relation you expect before listening. Then reject a time mentioned for a different event.
وَلٰكِنَّ · بَيْنَمَا · أَمَّا
A distractor may appear before the contrast; the speaker’s final choice or true situation often follows it.
لَا · لَمْ · لَيْسَ · إِلَّا
One small negative word can reverse the answer. إِلَّا may mean “except / only” as well as “to” in clock time.
| Cue | What to listen for | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| person prefix | who does the action | confusing two speakers |
| time phrase | which event the time belongs to | choosing the first number heard |
| وَلٰكِنَّ | corrected or contrasted information | stopping too early |
| لَا / لَمْ | negation | missing the reversal |
Questions are visible before the script. The script sits directly beneath the exercise for analysis after attempting it.
No separate listening answer key is revealed; submitted answers already provide correctness and feedback.
Grammar laboratory
Every answer checks a stated rule, change or agreement decision.
Select · build · explain
Use the live builder first, then complete three independent builder missions. Check meaning, verb form, agreement and word order.

اِخْتَرْ جُزْءًا مِنْ كُلِّ قَائِمَةٍ.
I focus on the time and ignore the distractor.
After the second listening, I verify the detail.
The speaker likes walking, but travels by bus in rain.

Read · understand · respond
Use short transcript-style extracts to practise speaker tracking, time anchors, contrast and negation before recorded audio is added.
Six short exam-style tasks. Read the Arabic carefully and use vocabulary, grammar and context to choose the best response.
Spot · explain · repair
Strong learners do not only recognise an error: they identify the system and repair it.
سَمِعْتُ كَلِمَةَ الحَافِلَةِ، إِذَنْ هِيَ الإِجَابَةُ.
أَتَأَكَّدُ أَنَّ الحَافِلَةَ تَخُصُّ السُّؤَالَ وَالشَّخْصَ الصَّحِيحَ.
Hearing the word is not sufficient.
أَخْتَارُ أَوَّلَ وَقْتٍ أَسْمَعُهُ.
أَرْبِطُ كُلَّ وَقْتٍ بِالحَدَثِ الَّذِي يَصِفُهُ.
Several times may appear.
أَتَوَقَّفُ عِنْدَ وَلٰكِنَّ.
أَسْتَمِرُّ بَعْدَ وَلٰكِنَّ لِأَسْمَعَ المُقَابَلَةَ.
The key information often follows the contrast.
Repair check
Predict · listen twice · verify
Read the questions first. Listen once for the main message and again for the exact detail.
Which person, time, frequency, sequence, contrast or changed detail might you hear?
Catch the speaker, setting and overall message.
Confirm the exact detail and reject close distractors.

Read once for meaning, then return to the exact Arabic evidence before choosing an answer.
Identify the text type and likely purpose.
Locate names, numbers, repeated words and question cues.
Choose only an answer supported by the text.
Model · rehearse · respond
Use the model to notice the structure, then answer a randomly selected prompt without reading a full script.
اِضْغَطْ لِاخْتِيَارِ سُؤَالٍ.
لِمَاذَا لَمْ تَخْتَرِ السَّادِسَةَ؟
Why did you not choose six?لِأَنَّ السَّادِسَةَ كَانَتْ وَقْتَ الاِسْتِيقَاظِ، بَيْنَمَا السُّؤَالُ كَانَ عَنْ وَقْتِ الخُرُوجِ. اِنْتَظَرْتُ الفِعْلَ «تَخْرُجُ».
Explains rejection with exact cue.Plan · draft · improve
Write 100–120 words reconstructing one speaker’s routine from the listening evidence, then explain two distractors you rejected.
