Check, Correct and Improve رَاجِعْ وَصَحِّحْ وَطَوِّرْ

Strong writers do not stop at the first draft. Learn a reliable editing routine that checks the task first, then organisation, grammar, spelling and presentation—before producing a clearer, more accurate second draft.

🧭 Independent study ⏱️ 55–90 minutes 🔎 Four-pass editing ✍️ Draft → improve → recheck
01

Orient

Your goal هَدَفُكَ

WM-01 helped you plan what to say. WM-02 helped you develop each point. WM-03 completes the writing cycle by showing you how to find weaknesses, make precise corrections and prove that the second draft is better.

Core

Check that every required point has been answered clearly and relevantly.

Develop

Correct common problems with agreement, tense, pronouns, prepositions and spelling.

Stretch

Improve clarity and range without introducing new errors or irrelevant detail.

By the end You will be able to complete a four-pass edit, explain why each correction is necessary and produce an improved second draft with visible evidence of progress.
02

Diagnostic pre-check

How do you edit now? كَيْفَ تُرَاجِعُ كِتَابَتَكَ الْآنَ؟

Choose the correction or editing decision that improves the writing most effectively.

Quick diagnostic

Do not look only for spelling. Strong editing starts with meaning and task completion.

1. What should you check first after finishing a response?
2. Which correction is accurate?

مَدْرَسَتِي كَبِيرٌ.

3. Which version controls the time frame correctly?
4. What is the best meaning of “improve”?
Your score will appear here.
03

The editing routine

Use four separate passes اِسْتَخْدِمْ أَرْبَعَ مُرَاجَعَاتٍ

Trying to notice everything at once is unreliable. Read the response four times, giving each reading one clear job.

1

Task pass

هَلْ أَجَبْتُ عَنْ كُلِّ نُقْطَةٍ؟

  • Tick every required point.
  • Remove irrelevant material.
  • Check audience and purpose.
2

Meaning pass

هَلْ أَفْكَارِي وَاضِحَةٌ وَمُرَتَّبَةٌ؟

  • Put ideas in a logical order.
  • Check pronoun references.
  • Use connectors by function.
3

Language pass

هَلِ الْقَوَاعِدُ وَالزَّمَنُ دَقِيقَانِ؟

  • Check agreement and verb forms.
  • Match verbs to time markers.
  • Check prepositions and suffixes.
4

Surface pass

هَلِ الْإِمْلَاءُ وَالتَّرْقِيمُ سَلِيمَانِ؟

  • Check hamza and letter shapes.
  • Check tāʾ marbūṭa and alif maqṣūra.
  • Add clear punctuation and spacing.
Editing principle Correct the largest problem first. A perfectly spelled paragraph that misses two task points is still incomplete.
04

Passes 1 and 2

Check coverage and clarity رَاجِعِ الْمَطْلُوبَ وَوُضُوحَ الْمَعْنَى

Use evidence, not a feeling. Mark exactly where each required point is answered.

Task-coverage test

  1. Number the task points: 1, 2, 3, 4.
  2. Underline the sentence that answers each point.
  3. Circle any point with no clear evidence.
  4. Add the missing content before polishing style.

Meaning and organisation test

  1. Read only the first sentence of each paragraph.
  2. Check that ideas move in a sensible order.
  3. Replace vague pronouns when the reference is unclear.
  4. Remove repetition that adds no new meaning.
ProblemWeak evidenceUseful editing questionRepair
Missing point Nothing answers “what you will do next”. Where is the future plan? Add one direct future sentence.
Unclear reference زُرْتُ صَدِيقَتِي وَأُخْتَهَا، وَهِيَ سَعِيدَةٌ. Who does هِيَ refer to? Repeat the noun that must be clear.
Repetition كَانَ الْيَوْمُ جَمِيلًا وَجَيِّدًا وَرَائِعًا. Do these words add different information? Keep one precise adjective and add a reason.
Wrong connector كَانَ الْجَوُّ بَارِدًا، لِذٰلِكَ ذَهَبْنَا لِلسِّبَاحَةِ. Is this really a result? Use contrast if the second idea is unexpected.
05

Passes 3 and 4

Accuracy clinic عِيَادَةُ الدِّقَّةِ

Search for one error family at a time. The examples below show the question an editor asks.

Agreement

هٰذِهِ مَدِينَةٌ جَمِيلٌ.

هٰذِهِ مَدِينَةٌ جَمِيلَةٌ.

Ask: Do noun, adjective, subject and verb agree in gender and number?

Time frame

أَمْسِ أَزُورُ الْمَتْحَفَ.

أَمْسِ زُرْتُ الْمَتْحَفَ.

Ask: Does the verb form match the time expression?

Preposition

أَسْتَمِعُ الْمُوسِيقَى.

أَسْتَمِعُ إِلَى الْمُوسِيقَى.

Ask: Does this verb require a fixed preposition?

Pronoun suffix

أُحِبُّ مَدْرَسَتِي لِأَنَّهُ كَبِيرَةٌ.

أُحِبُّ مَدْرَسَتِي لِأَنَّهَا كَبِيرَةٌ.

Ask: What noun does the suffix replace?

Spelling

هاذا المكان قريب الي المدرسه.

هٰذَا الْمَكَانُ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ الْمَدْرَسَةِ.

Ask: Are hamza, tāʾ marbūṭa and the complete word form accurate?

Punctuation

ذَهَبْنَا إِلَى السُّوقِ اشْتَرَيْنَا هَدِيَّةً ثُمَّ عُدْنَا.

ذَهَبْنَا إِلَى السُّوقِ، وَاشْتَرَيْنَا هَدِيَّةً، ثُمَّ عُدْنَا.

Ask: Can the reader see where one complete idea ends and the next begins?

Personal error bank Keep a short list of the three errors you make most often. Check those deliberately in every future response before searching for less common mistakes.
06

Worked comparison

From first draft to improved draft مِنَ الْمُسَوَّدَةِ الْأُولَى إِلَى النُّسْخَةِ الْمُحَسَّنَةِ

The second version does more than remove errors: it also makes the intended meaning clearer and more complete.

First draftNeeds repair

في الأسبوع الماضي شاركت في يوم رياضي في مدرستي. كان النشاط ممتعة وأنا لعبت كرة القدم مع صديقاتي. أحب هذه اليوم لأنه مفيد. في المستقبل شاركت مرة أخرى.

  • Agreement: النَّشَاطُ is masculine.
  • Demonstrative: الْيَوْمُ takes هٰذَا.
  • Time frame: the final sentence needs a future verb.
  • Development: “useful” is not explained.
Improved draftClearer and accurate

  • The past event is sustained consistently.
  • Noun, adjective and demonstrative agreement are accurate.
  • The reason now explains the value of the event.
  • The final future plan answers what happens next.
Notice The improved draft is not impressive because it is longer. It is stronger because the task evidence, grammar and development now work together.

2. Which phrase is accurate?
3. Complete the sentence accurately:

فِي الْعَامِ الْمُقْبِلِ ______ اللُّغَةَ الْعَرَبِيَّةَ بِجِدٍّ.

4. Which revision repairs the unclear pronoun?

قَابَلْتُ لَيْلَى وَأُخْتَهَا، وَهِيَ مُعَلِّمَةٌ.
