Develop Better Writing طَوِّرْ كِتَابَتَكَ

A complete answer needs more than correct short sentences. Learn how to turn a basic idea into connected Arabic using detail, opinion, reason, example, contrast and controlled time frames.

🧭 Independent study ⏱️ 50–80 minutes 🪜 Idea development ✍️ Short and extended writing
01

Orient

Your goal هَدَفُكَ

WM-01 helped you decide what the task requires. WM-02 helps you develop each planned point into purposeful connected language. The aim is not to make every sentence long. It is to make every idea earn its place.

Core

Extend a basic statement with one relevant detail and one reason.

Develop

Connect ideas naturally using suitable sequencing, addition, contrast and result language.

Stretch

Control past, present and future references while keeping the response relevant and accurate.

By the end You will be able to turn one short Arabic statement into a developed paragraph and explain which words give it depth, connection and time control.
02

Diagnostic pre-check

What makes writing developed? مَا الَّذِي يُطَوِّرُ الْكِتَابَةَ؟

Choose the strongest option, not merely the longest one.

Quick diagnostic

The feedback will identify the habits to strengthen during this lesson.

1. Which sentence develops the idea أُحِبُّ مَدْرَسَتِي most effectively?
2. Which connector best completes this contrast?

أُحِبُّ السَّفَرَ، ______ لَا أُحِبُّ الرِّحْلَاتِ الطَّوِيلَةَ.

3. Which sentence controls its time frame accurately?
4. Must every sentence contain an opinion, reason, example, contrast and consequence?
Your score will appear here.
03

Teach

The Idea Development Ladder سُلَّمُ تَطْوِيرِ الْفِكْرَةِ

Begin with a clear statement, then add only the layers that answer a useful question. A strong paragraph usually combines several layers across two or three sentences.

1
StateWhat is your main point?

أُحِبُّ مُزَاوَلَةَ الرِّيَاضَةِ.

2
Add detailWhich activity? How often? With whom?

أُمَارِسُ السِّبَاحَةَ مَرَّتَيْنِ فِي الْأُسْبُوعِ مَعَ صَدِيقَتِي.

3
ExplainWhy do you think or do this?

لِأَنَّهَا تُسَاعِدُنِي عَلَى الْحِفَاظِ عَلَى صِحَّتِي.

4
ShowCan you give an example or evidence?

فَمَثَلًا، شَعَرْتُ بِنَشَاطٍ كَبِيرٍ بَعْدَ تَدْرِيبِ الْأُسْبُوعِ الْمَاضِي.

5
ExtendCan you contrast, compare or add a consequence?

وَلٰكِنِّي لَا أُحِبُّ الْجَرْيَ، لِأَنَّهُ مُتْعِبٌ بِالنِّسْبَةِ إِلَيَّ.

The control rule Do not climb every rung mechanically. Ask: What would help the reader understand this point better? Add that layer, then move on.

Too short

أُحِبُّ الرِّيَاضَةَ.

The idea is clear but undeveloped.

Controlled development

أُحِبُّ الرِّيَاضَةَ، وَأُمَارِسُ السِّبَاحَةَ مَرَّتَيْنِ فِي الْأُسْبُوعِ لِأَنَّهَا مُفِيدَةٌ لِصِحَّتِي.

Detail and reason develop the point naturally.

Overloaded

فِي رَأْيِي أُحِبُّ الرِّيَاضَةَ لِأَنَّهَا مُفِيدَةٌ، وَلٰكِنْ أَيْضًا لِذٰلِكَ فَمَثَلًا...

Connectors have been added without a clear relationship.

04

Control

Write across time frames اُكْتُبْ عَبْرَ الْأَزْمِنَةِ

Time control is not achieved by inserting random tenses. Each time phrase, verb and detail must belong together.

Pastالْمَاضِي

Useful signals: last week, yesterday, when I was younger

فِي الْأُسْبُوعِ الْمَاضِي ذَهَبْتُ مَعَ أُسْرَتِي إِلَى الْبَحْرِ، وَقَضَيْنَا وَقْتًا مُمْتِعًا.

The completed past verbs match the finished event.

Presentالْحَاضِرُ

Useful signals: usually, every day, at present

عَادَةً أَقْرَأُ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ، لِأَنَّ الْقِرَاءَةَ تُسَاعِدُنِي عَلَى الِاسْتِرْخَاءِ.

The present verb describes a regular habit.

Futureالْمُسْتَقْبَلُ

Useful signals: next year, tomorrow, in the future

فِي الْعَامِ الْمُقْبِلِ سَأَنْضَمُّ إِلَى نَادٍ رِيَاضِيٍّ لِكَيْ أُحَسِّنَ لِيَاقَتِي.

The future marker and purpose phrase explain the plan.

Time-frame repairNotice → correct → explain
Mismatch

غَدًا ذَهَبْتُ إِلَى الْمَكْتَبَةِ.

Repair: غَدًا سَأَذْهَبُ إِلَى الْمَكْتَبَةِ.

Mismatch

أَمْسِ أَلْعَبُ كُرَةَ الْقَدَمِ مَعَ أَصْدِقَائِي.

Repair: أَمْسِ لَعِبْتُ كُرَةَ الْقَدَمِ مَعَ أَصْدِقَائِي.

Controlled

عَادَةً أَذْهَبُ إِلَى الْمَدْرَسَةِ بِالْحَافِلَةِ، وَلٰكِنِّي مَشَيْتُ أَمْسِ بِسَبَبِ الِازْدِحَامِ.

Present habit and past exception are clearly signalled.

05

Connect

Choose connectors by function اِخْتَرْ أَدَوَاتِ الرَّبْطِ حَسَبَ وَظِيفَتِهَا

A connector is useful only when it expresses the relationship between the ideas. Variety matters less than precision.

Sequence التَّرْتِيبُ

أَوَّلًا · ثُمَّ · بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ · أَخِيرًا

Use when events or steps follow an order.

Addition الْإِضَافَةُ

أَيْضًا · كَمَا أَنَّ · بِالْإِضَافَةِ إِلَى ذٰلِكَ

Use when the second idea supports or adds to the first.

Reason السَّبَبُ

لِأَنَّ · بِسَبَبِ · إِذْ

Use to explain why something happens or why you hold an opinion.

Contrast الْمُقَابَلَةُ

لٰكِنْ · بَيْنَمَا · عَلَى الرَّغْمِ مِنْ أَنَّ

Use when the ideas differ or one limits the other.

Result النَّتِيجَةُ

لِذٰلِكَ · لِهٰذَا السَّبَبِ · مِمَّا يُسَاعِدُ عَلَى

Use when the second idea is a consequence of the first.

Example الْمِثَالُ

فَمَثَلًا · عَلَى سَبِيلِ الْمِثَالِ · خُصُوصًا

Use to make a general point concrete.

Connector choices

Select the connector that expresses the exact relationship.

أُفَضِّلُ الدِّرَاسَةَ فِي الْبَيْتِ، ______ الْجَوَّ هَادِئٌ.
كَانَ الطَّقْسُ سَيِّئًا، ______ أَلْغَيْنَا الرِّحْلَةَ.
أَخِي يُفَضِّلُ كُرَةَ الْقَدَمِ، ______ أُفَضِّلُ السِّبَاحَةَ.
Your score will appear here.
06

Model and notice

From basic to developed مِنَ الْبَسِيطِ إِلَى الْمُتَطَوِّرِ

These three responses address the same original task point: describe a recent school trip and give your opinion. Notice that the strongest response is not simply the longest; its extra language has a clear purpose.

BasicClear but thin

ذَهَبْتُ فِي رِحْلَةٍ مَدْرَسِيَّةٍ. كَانَتْ جَيِّدَةً. زُرْنَا مُتْحَفًا.

  • The task point is present.
  • The opinion is vague.
  • No reason, precise detail or personal response is developed.
SecureRelevant development

فِي الْأُسْبُوعِ الْمَاضِي ذَهَبْتُ مَعَ مَدْرَسَتِي إِلَى مُتْحَفِ الْعُلُومِ. أَعْجَبَتْنِي الرِّحْلَةُ لِأَنَّنِي تَعَلَّمْتُ مَعْلُومَاتٍ جَدِيدَةً عَنِ الْفَضَاءِ.

  • Past time frame is signalled and controlled.
  • The opinion is supported with a reason.
  • The museum detail makes the answer specific.
StrongConnected and personal

time opinion reason example contrast result
Notice the balance The strong model still answers one task point. It does not wander into a general essay about museums, science or London.

Guided practice

Sentence Upgrade Studio اِسْتُودْيُو تَطْوِيرِ الْجُمَلِ

Build a short paragraph around one main idea. Choose additions that fit logically, then inspect the result.

Your developing paragraph

أُحِبُّ مُزَاوَلَةَ الرِّيَاضَةِ.

Development: 1/5

Choose one or more useful layers, then build the paragraph.

Reflection Read your generated paragraph aloud. Which added layer contributes the most meaning? Which could be removed without weakening the main point?
08

Independent application

Develop a complete response طَوِّرْ إِجَابَةً كَامِلَةً

Apply the lesson to an practice task. Your writing is saved only in this browser unless you clear it.

Practice taskSuggested length: 80–100 words
Message to a friend

You recently started a new after-school activity. Write a message in Arabic in which you:

  • say what the activity is and when you do it
  • describe what happened in your most recent session
  • give your opinion with a reason
  • explain what you plan to do next
Target: 80–100 words0 words

First read: content

Underline where you answered each required point. Add anything that is missing.

Second read: development

Circle one reason, example, contrast or result. Improve one thin idea.

Third read: time

Box each time phrase and verify that its verb belongs to the same time frame.

09

Mastery check

Can you control development? هَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ التَّحَكُّمَ فِي تَطْوِيرِ الْأَفْكَارِ؟

Final mastery check

Aim for at least 4/5 before moving on.

1. Which addition best develops أُفَضِّلُ التَّعَلُّمَ عَنْ بُعْدٍ?
2. Which order is most logical?
3. Which response controls three time frames?
4. Which connector completes the meaning?

أُحِبُّ الْعَيْشَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ، ______ أُخْتِي تُفَضِّلُ الرِّيفَ.

5. What is the safest development principle?

Consolidate and continue

Your personal next step خُطْوَتُكَ التَّالِيَةُ

Final five-minute demonstration

Choose one basic sentence from a recent piece of writing. Improve it by adding:

  • one precise detail
  • one opinion or reason
  • one example, contrast or result
  • an accurate time signal where appropriate

Then explain which layer adds the most value.

Rate your readiness

Choose your current confidence level
Spaced revisit In one week, take a different four-point task. Plan one development layer beside each point before writing. Afterwards, highlight your reasons, examples, contrasts and results.

Ideas remain repetitive?

Repeat the Development Ladder using three topics: school, leisure and future plans.
