Core
Give a direct answer, one reason and one relevant detail without switching to English.
Build connected answers, respond to follow-up questions, shift naturally between time frames and keep communicating when the exact word does not come immediately.
Orient
A topic conversation is not a memorised speech. It is a sequence of connected responses in which you listen, answer the precise question, develop your ideas and adapt when the conversation changes direction.
Give a direct answer, one reason and one relevant detail without switching to English.
Handle follow-up questions and use past, present and future language where appropriate.
Compare viewpoints, use conditional or solution language and recover naturally from uncertainty.
Activate
Choose what would help communication most. Do not worry about your score: the purpose is to identify your most useful starting point.
Five decisions that strong speakers make.
Your score will appear here.
Understand the task
In the current Paper 3 structure, candidates complete two topic conversations. Each lasts approximately four minutes and invites views, opinions and experiences in familiar everyday contexts. The whole speaking test is conducted in Modern Standard Arabic.
Identify the question word, topic and time frame before planning your language.
Give the precise response in the first sentence. Do not begin with an unrelated prepared paragraph.
Add a reason, example, comparison, consequence or time shift that serves the question.
Respond to follow-ups, clarify when necessary and keep the exchange moving.
Use clear pronunciation and a suitable range of vocabulary, structures and tenses.
Notice
A strong answer begins with listening accurately. Sort each question by purpose, time frame and best development route.
Give features, examples and a personal detail.
State a view, justify it and acknowledge another side if useful.
Narrate what happened, when, with whom and how you felt.
State the plan, reason, intended result and possible condition.
Give a similarity or difference and explain which you prefer.
Name an action, explain its effect and mention a realistic limitation.
مَاذَا سَتَفْعَلُ لِتَحْسِينِ صِحَّتِكَ فِي المُسْتَقْبَلِ؟
Build
Use the four layers flexibly. A short factual question may need only A + R. A broad opinion question may benefit from all four.
أُفَضِّلُ الدِّرَاسَةَ فِي الصَّفِّ.
Give the requested information immediately.لِأَنَّنِي أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ المُعَلِّمَ مُبَاشَرَةً.
Explain why your answer is true or important.فَمَثَلًا، سَاعَدَنِي مُعَلِّمِي الأُسْبُوعَ المَاضِي عِنْدَمَا لَمْ أَفْهَمِ الدَّرْسَ.
Make the response specific and believable.وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ، سَأَسْتَخْدِمُ التَّعَلُّمَ عَنْ بُعْدٍ إِذَا احْتَجْتُ إِلَى مُرَاجَعَةٍ إِضَافِيَّةٍ.
Add a comparison, time shift, condition, consequence or balanced view.أُفَضِّلُ الدِّرَاسَةَ فِي الصَّفِّ لِأَنَّهَا أَسْهَلُ لِي.
Direct answer + reason.
أُفَضِّلُ الدِّرَاسَةَ فِي الصَّفِّ لِأَنَّنِي أَتَفَاعَلُ مَعَ المُعَلِّمِ وَزُمَلَائِي. فَمَثَلًا، يُمْكِنُنِي أَنْ أَطْلُبَ تَوْضِيحًا عِنْدَمَا لَا أَفْهَمُ.
Answer + reason + relevant example.
صَحِيحٌ أَنَّ التَّعَلُّمَ عَنْ بُعْدٍ مُرِنٌ، غَيْرَ أَنَّنِي أَتَعَلَّمُ أَفْضَلَ فِي الصَّفِّ. لَوْ جَمَعَتِ المَدْرَسَةُ بَيْنَ الطَّرِيقَتَيْنِ، لَكَانَ ذَلِكَ أَكْثَرَ فَائِدَةً.
Balanced view + conditional extension.
Expand
Range is valuable when it helps you express the idea more precisely. Choose one or two structures that fit the answer instead of forcing every structure into every response.

Interact
A follow-up is not a new speech. Listen for what has changed, then adapt one part of your previous answer.
Add the missing reason, not the whole answer again.
Add a specific example, consequence or explanation.
Continue the past narrative in sequence.
Shift to a future plan or prediction.
Acknowledge another perspective and respond to it.
First answer:
أُفَضِّلُ السَّفَرَ بِالقِطَارِ لِأَنَّهُ مُرِيحٌ.
Follow-up: هَلْ هُنَاكَ عَيْبٌ؟
نَعَمْ، قَدْ يَكُونُ أَبْطَأَ مِنَ الطَّائِرَةِ، خَاصَّةً فِي الرِّحْلَاتِ الطَّوِيلَةِ.
Weak response:
أُفَضِّلُ السَّفَرَ بِالقِطَارِ لِأَنَّهُ مُرِيحٌ... أُفَضِّلُ السَّفَرَ بِالقِطَارِ لِأَنَّهُ مُرِيحٌ.
The follow-up requested a disadvantage. Repeating the original point does not move the conversation forward.
Recover
Confidence does not mean feeling no nerves. It means knowing what to do next when you hesitate, forget a word or notice an error.
Take one calm breath. A short pause is more effective than rushing.
دَعْنِي أُفَكِّرُ قَلِيلًا...
Maintain interaction while organising the idea.
هُوَ مَكَانٌ نَذْهَبُ إِلَيْهِ لِـ...
Describe the missing word using language you do know.
عُذْرًا، أَقْصِدُ أَنَّ...
Correct one point briefly and continue.
وَبِالعَوْدَةِ إِلَى السُّؤَالِ...
Bring the answer back to the main point.
عُذْرًا، هَلْ يُمْكِنُكَ إِعَادَةُ السُّؤَالِ؟
هَلْ تَقْصِدُ أَنَّ...؟
لَمْ أَفْهَمِ الكَلِمَةَ الأَخِيرَةَ.
فِي الحَقِيقَةِ، هَذَا سُؤَالٌ مُهِمٌّ.
مِنْ جِهَةٍ أُخْرَى...
Model
This model shows how answers change with each question. Notice that the speaker does not repeat a memorised paragraph.
مَا المَادَّةُ الدِّرَاسِيَّةُ الَّتِي تُفَضِّلُهَا؟ وَلِمَاذَا؟
Which school subject do you prefer, and why?أُفَضِّلُ عِلْمَ الأَحْيَاءِ لِأَنَّنِي أَسْتَمْتِعُ بِفَهْمِ جِسْمِ الإِنْسَانِ. كَمَا أَنَّ التَّجَارِبَ العَمَلِيَّةَ تَجْعَلُ الدَّرْسَ أَكْثَرَ تَشْوِيقًا.
Direct preference + reason + detail.حَدِّثْنِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَعَلْتَهُ لِتُحَسِّنَ دِرَاسَتَكَ.
Tell me about something you did to improve your studies.فِي الشَّهْرِ المَاضِي أَنْشَأْتُ جَدْوَلًا لِلمُرَاجَعَةِ، وَقَسَّمْتُ المَوَادَّ إِلَى مَهَامَّ صَغِيرَةٍ. سَاعَدَنِي ذَلِكَ عَلَى تَقْلِيلِ التَّوَتُّرِ وَإِنْهَاءِ وَاجِبَاتِي فِي الوَقْتِ.
Past action + sequence + result.هَلْ تَعْتَقِدُ أَنَّ التِّقْنِيَّةَ دَائِمًا مُفِيدَةٌ لِلتَّعَلُّمِ؟
Do you think technology is always useful for learning?
Opinion + balance + recommendation.مَا خُطَطُكَ بَعْدَ انْتِهَاءِ المَدْرَسَةِ؟
What are your plans after leaving school?
