Understand the task
The topic-conversation map خَرِيطَةُ المُحَادَثَةِ المَوْضُوعِيَّةِ
In the current Paper 3 structure, candidates complete two topic conversations. Each lasts approximately four minutes and invites views, opinions and experiences in familiar everyday contexts. The whole speaking test is conducted in Modern Standard Arabic.
Identify the question word, topic and time frame before planning your language.
Give the precise response in the first sentence. Do not begin with an unrelated prepared paragraph.
Add a reason, example, comparison, consequence or time shift that serves the question.
Respond to follow-ups, clarify when necessary and keep the exchange moving.
Use clear pronunciation and a suitable range of vocabulary, structures and tenses.
What is rewarded?
- clear and effective communication;
- opinions and feelings supported with relevant detail;
- a useful range of vocabulary and structures;
- reasonable accuracy;

What is not required?
- a perfect accent;
- an advanced structure in every sentence;

Decode the question before answering فَكِّكِ السُّؤَالَ قَبْلَ الإِجَابَةِ
A strong answer begins with listening accurately. Sort each question by purpose, time frame and best development route.
Give features, examples and a personal detail.
State a view, justify it and acknowledge another side if useful.
Narrate what happened, when, with whom and how you felt.
State the plan, reason, intended result and possible condition.
Give a similarity or difference and explain which you prefer.
Name an action, explain its effect and mention a realistic limitation.

Handle follow-up questions تَعَامَلْ مَعَ أَسْئِلَةِ المُتَابَعَةِ
A follow-up is not a new speech. Listen for what has changed, then adapt one part of your previous answer.

Add the missing reason, not the whole answer again.
هَلْ يُمْكِنُكَ أَنْ تَشْرَحَ أَكْثَرَ؟
Add a specific example, consequence or explanation.
مَاذَا حَدَثَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ؟
Continue the past narrative in sequence.

Shift to a future plan or prediction.

Adapt successfully
First answer:
أُفَضِّلُ السَّفَرَ بِالقِطَارِ لِأَنَّهُ مُرِيحٌ.
Follow-up: هَلْ هُنَاكَ عَيْبٌ؟
نَعَمْ، قَدْ يَكُونُ أَبْطَأَ مِنَ الطَّائِرَةِ، خَاصَّةً فِي الرِّحْلَاتِ الطَّوِيلَةِ.
Avoid repetition
Weak response:
أُفَضِّلُ السَّفَرَ بِالقِطَارِ لِأَنَّهُ مُرِيحٌ... أُفَضِّلُ السَّفَرَ بِالقِطَارِ لِأَنَّهُ مُرِيحٌ.
The follow-up requested a disadvantage. Repeating the original point does not move the conversation forward.

Recover
Confidence is a speaking routine الثِّقَةُ رُوتِينٌ لِلتَّحَدُّثِ
Confidence does not mean feeling no nerves. It means knowing what to do next when you hesitate, forget a word or notice an error.
Take one calm breath. A short pause is more effective than rushing.

Maintain interaction while organising the idea.

Describe the missing word using language you do know.

Pronunciation for confidence
- Speak in short thought groups rather than one breathless sentence.
- Give long vowels their full length: كَتَبَ is not كَاتِبٌ.
- Make shadda audible: يُعَلِّمُ.
- Slow slightly at the key opinion or contrast.
- Use intonation to show whether you are explaining, contrasting or asking for clarification.
