Listening
Three health texts. Read the questions first, decide whether each targets a statistic, a conditional or a passive, then use the script.
Text 1 · a nutritionist on healthy eating
Eight questions: nutrition, passive, conditionals and a statistic
Text 1 script
Text 2 · two students on stress and mental health
Who said it — Sami, Layla or both?
Text 2 script

Part B1 · 10 marks
Reading
A short article on digital wellbeing and sleep, with conditionals and passives. Prove every answer from the Arabic.
Part B2 · 20 marks
Writing
A short health record form, then a 140–150 word article or email.
Question 1 · health record
Complete five details in Arabic
- نَوْعُ نِظَامِكَ الغِذَائِيِّ الرَّئِيسِيُّ
Your main diet type
- عَدَدُ مَرَّاتِ الرِّيَاضَةِ أُسْبُوعِيًّا
Frequency of exercise per week
- سَاعَاتُ نَوْمِكَ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ
Your hours of sleep per night
- تَحَدٍّ صِحِّيٌّ وَاحِدٌ تُوَاجِهُهُ
One health challenge you face
- تَوْصِيَةٌ شَرْطِيَّةٌ لِحَيَاةٍ أَصَحَّ (إِذَا …)
One conditional recommendation for a healthier life
Question 2 · extended writing
كَيْفَ أُحَافِظُ عَلَى صِحَّتِي فِي القَرْنِ الوَاحِدِ وَالعِشْرِينَ؟
Write 140–150 words on healthy lifestyles. A Type 1 conditional (إِذَا … سَـ) and a medical passive are both required; add rhetorical questions, statistics and formal connectors for range.
Your work stays in this browser unless you clear it.
Part C · 10 marks
Speaking
A role play and a topic conversation. The Type 1 conditional is assessed in both.
Role play · at a health centre check-up
Four prompts
- صِفْ نِظَامَكَ الغِذَائِيَّ (غَنِيٌّ بِـ / يَحْتَوِي عَلَى).
Describe your diet using غَنِيٌّ بِـ or يَحْتَوِي عَلَى. - صِفْ عَادَاتِكَ الرِّيَاضِيَّةَ.
Describe your exercise habits. - قُلْ مَا التَّحَدِّي الصِّحِّيُّ الَّذِي تُوَاجِهُهُ (يُعَانِي مِنْ).
Say what health challenge you face, using يُعَانِي مِنْ. - اطْلُبْ تَوْصِيَةً شَرْطِيَّةً: «إِذَا فَعَلْتُ كَذَا، سَـ…؟»
Ask for a conditional recommendation using a Type 1 conditional.
Topic conversation
Three questions
- مَا نِظَامُكَ الغِذَائِيُّ؟ مَا الأَطْعِمَةُ الَّتِي تُوصِي بِهَا؟
What is your diet? Which foods do you recommend? - كَيْفَ تَتَعَامَلُ مَعَ الضَّغْطِ الدِّرَاسِيِّ؟ (يُعَانِي مِنْ + يَتَغَلَّبُ عَلَى)
How do you handle academic pressure? (use يُعَانِي مِنْ and يَتَغَلَّبُ عَلَى) - إِذَا كَانَ بِإِمْكَانِكَ تَغْيِيرُ عَادَةٍ صِحِّيَّةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، مَاذَا سَتَخْتَارُ؟ (شَرْطٌ مَطْلُوبٌ)
If you could change one healthy habit, what would you choose? (conditional required)
Criteria · weighting · evidence
Mark scheme
Apply these criteria to Question 2 and to the speaking components.
Task completion (TC) — 5 marks
- All required content is present: diet, exercise, mental health and a clear opinion.
- The register suits an article or email for a youth health magazine.
- The response is 140-150 words and stays on topic throughout.
Range — 5 marks
- A Type 1 conditional (إِذَا … سَـ) is used accurately — required.
- A medical passive (يُعَالَجُ / يُوصَى بِـ) is used accurately — required.
- Further markers add credit: a rhetorical question, a Form II benefit verb, a comparative, a formal connector, statistical language.
Accuracy — 5 marks
- Conditional tense is correct: a past-form verb after إِذَا and سَـ in the result.
- The passive is vowelled correctly and its subject is nominative.
- Prepositions (غَنِيٌّ بِـ، يَفْتَقِرُ إِلَى، يُعَانِي مِنْ) and agreement are accurate.
Role play — communication and accuracy — 4 marks
- Communication (2): all four prompts are addressed clearly and relevantly.
- Accuracy (2): prompt 3 uses يُعَانِي مِنْ and prompt 4 requests a conditional; both are formed correctly.
- Diet is described with غَنِيٌّ بِـ or يَحْتَوِي عَلَى.
Topic conversation — communication and quality of language — 6 marks
- Communication (3): answers are developed with point, reason and example.
- Quality of language (3): a Type 1 conditional appears spontaneously in the stress or habit-change question.
- A Form II benefit verb and academic health vocabulary raise the quality; record if the candidate avoids the conditional by using the present.
Accuracy focus
Use إِذَا … سَـ for a realistic future condition and check medical passive forms carefully.
